WASHINGTON - Halliburton Co. exposed troops in Iraq to contaminated water even after a former company worker publicly accused the Houston-based contractor of failing to chlorinate water supplies, Senate Democrats alleged Thurs- day.
Back in January, a one-time water purification specialist for Halliburton subsidiary KBR told a Democratic panel he tested water used for showers, shaving and washing clothes at Camp Junction City in Ramadi last March and found it had not been treated with chlorine.
Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., chairman of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee, said he will release a report today from an Army doctor confirming that water contamination problems continued even after the issue was raised on Capitol Hill.
Halliburton allowed troops to bathe in water pumped from the Tigris River that tested positive for E. coli and coliform bacteria, Dorgan said.
Halliburton spokeswoman Cathy Mann pointed to a March 14 statement on water quality that said, "KBR has worked closely with the Army to develop standards and take action to ensure that the water provided in Iraq is safe and of the highest quality possible.
"Halliburton and KBR are committed to doing the right thing because we care about the health and welfare of the troops, our employees and all those who serve and work in Iraq."

I figured a month ago that the news in the country was so bad, that if the republicans wanted to get re-elected they would focus on the almighty dollar and try to buy the American votes. therefore, I figured that gas prices would decrease before the elections and that if I re-allocated my funds in the TSP it would pay off...and so far it has. this has told me that the republicans are manipulatinng the votes again. Wake up America
Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber just cannot stay out of the news. They are part of the 20 million daily listeners Limbaugh keeps referring to. These people must surely feel used now when they see the state of our country. Limbaugh, Hannity and talk radio in general sold out America by using daily talking points generated by the republicrats/evangelicrats and conservatives who support them...and there are conservative Americans in the democratic party. Look at the results of their lies, smears, wars, deaths (our soldiers and thousands of innocent civilians), etc. Pres Obama has his hands full, but this is America. We will be great again...with hard work and sacrifice by all.
One last thing...why does our country keep getting poked in the eye by Israel and we take it....even when we agree with the United Nations?
Yes, It is time we dictate to Israel rather than the other way around. They are the cause of most of the problems in the world including the financial war being waged by other countries (Americans do not realize this) such as China, Russia, etc, against the free world. They have killed or contributed to the killing of millions just as they experienced in the holocaust...Enough is enough!
Pres Obama has a great plan to keep us safe by his announcement on Afghan/Pakistan today. It is beyond me how millions of Americans could put our national security in peril by ever considering a woman (Sarah Palin) who took 8 years to complete a 2 year degree in Journalism in a small college in Alaska..as President of the USA. Maybe they do not love America as much as they think!
The GOP/tea-baggers/no-goers/whatever... forget that 9/11 happened during the 9th month of Bush admin...and propagandize how Bush kept us safe. That's a big lie. Americans forget too easily! Don't fall for this false claim again...The schizoid opposition party never ceases to amaze me on a daily basis.
Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Savage, etc are using fear and lies to get rich off the back (making millions each year in wages) of poor Americans, mostly in the South, and these poor bas...s don't even see that. Only in America....
